Original vs fake chargers: 6 checks before you plug in

Fake chargers overheat, charge slowly and can damage your battery. These quick checks help you spot one.

A fake charger isn’t just slower. Poor insulation and missing protection circuits can overheat, damage your phone’s battery, or worse. Here’s how to tell the difference.

1. Price that’s too good to be true

An original 25W or 45W brand charger has a fairly fixed market price. If it’s selling for a fraction of that, it almost certainly isn’t genuine.

2. Weight and build

Originals feel dense and solid because of proper components and insulation. Fakes are often light, with uneven seams and glossy plastic that scratches easily.

3. Print quality

Look at the tiny text on the charger: model number, input/output ratings and certification marks. On fakes it is often blurry, misspelled or slightly off-centre.

4. Real fast charging

Plug it in and look at the phone. Samsung shows “Super fast charging”, other brands show their own fast-charge icon or animation. A fake usually falls back to slow charging.

5. Heat

A genuine charger gets warm under load. A fake one often gets hot within minutes.

6. Where you buy it

Buy from sellers who list the exact model, offer warranty and stand behind returns. Every charger, cable and power bank at MobileSahab is original, and we tell you exactly which phones it fast-charges.
